Wildlife in Sri Lanka

Once an unchartered island connected by a mere thin strip of land to India, Sri Lanka was and continues to be known as one of the most interesting wildlife travel destinations in the world. It's no secret that this tropical island is home to a variety of amazing animals and plant life including an entire range of indigenous ones. From breathtaking birds to remarkable mammals, a number of species can be found seen when exploring certain parts of the island. Reptile and amphibian lovers too may find marshy areas of the wet zone to be ideal for spotting rarely seen snakes and lizards that call Sri Lanka home.

One of the most picturesque eco protected eco systems in South Asia, the Sinharaja Rain Forest is rich in bio diversity and facilitates life for many indigenous creatures. Boasting an endemism percentage which is well above 50%, this amazing rainforest is a treasured tourist attraction which is frequented by thousands of tourists each year.
